Working together for Tasmanian communities

Elise Archer,Attorney-General and Minister for Building and Construction

The Tasmanian Government is committed to addressing the impacts of COVID-19 and supporting all Tasmanians where ever possible during these challenging times.

I understand many Tasmanians are doing it tough and this is why, as Minister, I recently wrote to the ACCC last month asking for an investigation into fuel prices in the State while also calling retailers to reduce their prices in line with price drops in other States over recent weeks.

We have also been engaging with the RACT about how the Government could put in place measures to ensure fuel pricing is more transparent. Such consideration needs to take into account effectiveness, cost and level of legislative and regulatory burden with a jurisdictional comparison.

I am disappointed that anyone would chose to engage in petty politics at a time like this. We must all work together in a constructive way to support those who are feeling the impacts of COVID-19.
