Works begin to remove synthetic turf at Ellenbrook Sports Hub

The City of Swan has started work to replace the synthetic turf pitches at the Ellenbrook Sports Hub with completion of works due by the end of this year.

The decision to replace the turf has been made after a number of unsuccessful attempts to remove the rubber infill product from the surface after it was found to have failed.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said all other options have been explored and replacing the turf will produce the best long-term outcome for the community.

"The City's priority is our community members who use the Ellenbrook Sports Hub," he said.

"In order to maintain the high standards we have for the Ellenbrook Sports Hub full replacement of the turf will ensure users can continue to enjoy the facility as intended."

"The replacement comes at no cost to the City and is underway, with full completion anticipated by the end of this year."

Pearce Ward Councillor Patty Jones said the replacement works would be staged to ensure the majority of current programs and activities could continue.

"We will work to deliver as many of our regular programs and activities as possible during the replacement works," she said.

"Despite the disruption we know the replacement of the turf is in the best interests of all users."
