Works have started on rebuilding the rock revetment on the Safety Beach foreshore near the sailing club.

The Bay Trail has been diverted around the work site, with a temporary fence maintaining pedestrian access and safety. Heavy machinery will be at the location for the next six weeks.

These works funded by the Shire will help protect the foreshore from further erosion that has happened as the old revetment failed and storm surges impacted the foreshore.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Despi O'Connor:

"This rebuild is part of Council's commitment to protecting our coastal environments from the impacts of climate change."

Quotes attributable to Seawinds Ward Councillor Antonella Celi:

"The rock revetment rebuild has been long awaited the Safety Beach Foreshore Landscape Committee and locals. I look forward to seeing this essential project completed over the next few weeks."

Quotes attributable to Seawinds Ward Councillor Debra Mar:

"We know how important the Safety Beach foreshore is to the local community. This rebuild of the rock revetment will help protect our foreshore for years to come."

Quotes attributable to Seawinds Ward Councillor Kerri McCafferty:

"Coastal erosion is just one of the many impacts of our rapidly changing climate, and this rebuild demonstrates how the Shire is protecting and preserving our beautiful coast for future generations."
