World Day Of Remembrance For Road Traffic Victims

NSW Gov

Today we pause to honour every person killed or seriously injured on our roads, and every person who lives after the loss of a loved one.

So far this year, 313 people have died on NSW roads.

Behind every one of those numbers is a life cut short, as well as families, friends and communities forever changed.

To those gathering across NSW today, we stand with you.

I want to acknowledge the Road Trauma Support Group NSW for their extraordinary support and compassion.

They support so many people across our state and always encourage us to do more.

Road safety isn't just a job for government or police; it takes all of us.

Most fatal crashes come down to choices we can control: speeding, distraction, fatigue, alcohol or drugs, wearing a seatbelt or a helmet.

Every safe decision we make on the roads can prevent another family from receiving that life-changing knock at the door.

The Minns Labor Government is investing in safer roads, stronger enforcement and better support for victims and their families, but we cannot do this alone.

Today is a reminder to remember, to honour and to act.

Let's protect each other on the road, because every life lost is one too many.
