Wounding charges, Surfers Paradise

Gold Coast detectives have charged a 17-year-old after another boy was allegedly stabbed at Surfers Paradise overnight

At 11.35pm, two groups of teenage boys, not known to each other, became involved in a verbal altercation. It will be alleged a knife was produced and a 17-year-old male from Wongawallan was stabbed twice in the back.

Police located a 17-year-old Woodridge boy nearby and he has been charged with one count each of wounding and possessing a knife in a public place.

He will appear in the Southport Children's Court this morning.

The victim was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he was treated for two small stab wounds in his back.
