Wounding investigation, Runcorn

Police have declared two crime scenes after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed during an alleged street disturbance in Runcorn overnight (December 30).

Officers were called to Kalanda Street just after 11.20pm and found numerous people gathered in the street.

Police provided first-aid to a 14-year-old boy who had sustained a stab wound to his abdomen.

Several police crews, along with the dog squad and the police helicopter gained control of the scene and established two crime scenes, one in the front yard of a house and the other in the street where the boy was found.

The 14-year-old was transported to hospital in the company of police, and at this time five people are in custody and assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Police do not believe there is an ongoing danger to the general public.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have CCTV from the area, or who witnessed the disturbance, to contact them.

No further information is available at this time.
