Wyndham City 2020/21 Capital Works Program Done and Dusted

That's a wrap! Wyndham City has officially finished its $103.8 million capital works program for 2020/21.

Over the past 12 months, Council has delivered upgraded roads, new community buildings, improved sporting reserves and pavilions and enhanced open spaces.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said among the big ticket items delivered last financial year were $11.75 million spent resurfacing and reconstructing various local roads, $2.2 million for cycling and shared path upgrades and $1.9 million to breathe new life into several Wyndham parks.

"These important upgrades will make a positive difference to Wyndham's future and provide the necessary infrastructure to service our growing community," Cr Hegedich said.

"We also completed the Grange Community Centre revamp as part of a $3.75 million Wyndham City redevelopment of The Grange that also included work to the hub's two adjoining sports fields."

"Meanwhile, we commenced and continued work on a range of city-shaping projects that will contribute to the overall liveability of the City now and into the future."

"This includes finalising construction on a new community centre in Tarneit and a game-changing Wyndham City plan to redevelop 14 sporting pavilions."

"This is a considerable effort, with most of the construction industry shut down at various points of the year because of COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions."

"Many of these projects wouldn't have been possible without the help of the State Government, and we thank them for their contribution."

"We're looking to go even bigger during 2021/22, and will spend a record $196.5 million to deliver critical infrastructure across our City as part of Wyndham's pandemic recovery efforts."
