Wyndham Cultural Centre's first three shows for 2023

Wyndham City is delighted to announce the launch of the first three shows of the 2023 Wyndham Cultural Centre program.

Wyndham City's Creative City portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud, said: "The Cultural Centre program has something for everyone and has an exciting mix of performance, music and comedy which is certain to entertain."

"Kicking off the 2023 Wyndham Cultural Centre program with the Air Force Big Band to coincide with the Australian International Air Show, also known as the Avalon Air Show will be a fabulous way to start the year."

Cr Mahfoud said: "For musical enthusiasts that love a big ensemble, the Air Force Big Band, with guests US Air Force Pacific Band, will hit the spot. Playing two performances on Tuesday 28 February, this collective of talented musicians will have you moving and crooning along."

The Air Force Big Band is the Royal Australian Air Force's 17-piece sing and jazz ensemble and has a strong military heritage from the 'Swing' era of the 1940s.

The ensemble's repertoire includes traditional big band swing, concert jazz, and original compositions and arrangements by band members. Joined by guest Hana Hou, the commercial popular music ensemble of the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific, this show will have you bopping along to the beat.

"The entertaining Garry Starr Performs Everything on Saturday 11 March, at 7.30pm. Audiences will be delighted as Garry takes them on a vivid journey from start to finish in this feel-good show."

Developed as a comedic solo act, Garry Starr is the alter-ego of Australian and British actor and comedian Damien Warren-Smith. Starr takes the audience through every performance style he can think of, hoping to reignite the passion for the performing arts, thus saving theatre.

The show premiered at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2018, where it picked up two awards and critical acclaim before transferring to the prestigious Malthouse Theatre during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Here Damien was nominated for both Best Newcomer and the Golden Gibbo (Best Independent Artist).

"To coincide with International Women's Day on Saturday 25 March, the iconic show I am Woman will be a fabulous way to show your support and be taken on a historical journey. Through history, heart, and hilarity, this show brings incredible women - and their music - out of the sidelines and into their rightful place in Aussie music history!" said Cr Mahfoud.

Join award-winning cabaret powerhouses Amelia Ryan and Libby O'Donovan, In a rollicking, raucous celebration of songs and stories from 1960s Australia. Hear the likes of Lynne Randell, Little Patti, Judy Stone, Marcie Jones, Margret Roadknight, Wendy Saddington and Alison McCallum in an uplifting and nostalgic hour that pays homage to the women who blazed the trails for generations to come.

Cr Mahoud said: "Come and experience one of these entertaining shows. Be sure to book your tickets to one of these amazing shows before they sell out."
