Eighteen months in … and we're just getting started!
Wyndham City's Connecting Wyndham program is delivering real results for the community, with one major project already complete, three more critical upgrades underway and planning progressing on further key transport links across our City.
Among the highlights is the completion of stage one of the Widen Little River Roads upgrade project, which included the complete rebuild of Old Melbourne Road (between Little River and Little River Road) and Rothwell Road (between Old Melbourne Road and McLeans Road) with sealed lanes and shoulders, and drainage works.
This $8.5 million Wyndham City project has delivered enhanced road safety, improved traffic flow and reduced maintenance costs, ensuring our community can get where they need to go more easily and safely.
Meanwhile, work is well underway on three other major projects - the Tarneit Road and Leakes Road intersection upgrade, K Road reconstruction, and the Ison Road project - with all three on track for completion in 2026.
We've also rebuilt four roads and resurfaced another four over 2025/26 as part of Wyndham City's annual Road Reconstruction and Road Asphalt Resurfacing Programs, and constructed 17 new and upgraded shared user paths and footpaths through our Active Transport program.
Spanning major projects, road reconstructions, road surface renewals, active transport and transport advocacy, Connecting Wyndham is the largest local government investment in road infrastructure in Wyndham's history.
The program's success has also been recognised nationally, with Council winning the Institute of Transportation Engineers Sustainable Transport Award for our Active Travel to Schools and Missing Links programs, and Connecting Wyndham also highly commended in the National Growth Areas Alliance Annual Awards.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Josh Gilligan, said the Connecting Wyndham program was paving the way for safer, more reliable travel.
"Reducing traffic congestion and improving road safety is a key focus for Council, and over the past 18 months we've delivered important upgrades, gained national recognition and laid the groundwork for even bigger improvements to come," Cr Gilligan said.
"Connecting Wyndham is building the foundations for a safer, more connected and more liveable City, and the best is still to come."
