The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to invest in the future and wellbeing of young Victorians through place-based youth hubs which provide tailored services and support community connections.
Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman today announced Wyndham City Council will receive $150,000 through the Youth Hubs Grant Program to support the refurbishment of its existing Youth Resource Centre.
Wyndham City Council's Youth Resource Centre supports young people aged 12 to 25 with counselling and mental health support, employment and general youth support services and programs.
Refurbishment of the existing facility will ensure safer and greater access to the hub with upgrades to consulting rooms, a commercial kitchen and foyer area.
The Youth Hubs Grant Program will support hubs to be co-designed with young Victorians. This will ensure appropriate spaces for young people to access tailored services and programs, to connect with each other and to be a part of meaningful decision-making opportunities and have their voices, lived experiences and solutions heard.
The grant program is funded as part of the Labor Government's five-year Youth Strategy 'Our promise, Your future', with a $1 million funding commitment to upgrade or develop place-based youth hubs in outer metropolitan Melbourne.
