YAS Awards Spotlight Top Hockey Talent for Championships

This month's Young Achiever Scheme (YAS) recognises skilled local hockey athlete, Maximilian Hobbs, as he becomes the next recipient of the awards' funding.

For the past ten years, Maximilian has demonstrated his passion for the sport, both on and off the pitch, through his dedication and commitment to the hockey community.

The talented athlete continues to advance as a skilled competitor, playing at national level for the past four years, and was selected for the U18 ACT hockey team this year.

Kylie Smit, Falcons Hockey Club Junior Manager, speaks of Maximilian as an inspiration for the hockey community through his passion, tenacity and respect for others.

"Max is an exceptional young man whose dedication to the sport, and to those around him, sets him apart," she said.

"As both a talented hockey player and a mentor to younger athletes, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, responsibility and kindness, especially to the younger players who look up to him.

"Off the field, he is always respectful, friendly and eager to help wherever needed. Whether it is volunteering at club events, assisting with training sessions or offering guidance to junior players, Max brings a positive and kind presence," concluded Kylie.

Maximilian will use the YAS funding when taking part in the 2025 Hockey Australia U18 Championships in Perth this July.
