Year-old woman threatened with a knife during break-in - Western Region

Investigations are underway after a 92-year-old woman was threatened with a knife during a break-in at her home in the state's Western Region yesterday.

About 1.15pm (Monday 3 August 2020), the elderly woman was on the front veranda of her home on Crown Street, Dubbo, when she heard a noise coming from inside.

As she walked back inside, she saw a man, described as being Caucasian in appearance, tall with black short hair, and a chequered scarf or tea towel covering his face, standing in the hallway.

The man produced a knife and approached the woman while demanding cash. He held the knife to her throat as he searched her clothing.

The woman hit the man with her walking stick as he fled the home, taking her debit card and a small amount of loose change.

Police were called and officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and commenced inquiries.
