Yennora: Man Injured in Suspected Assault

Police believe a man found injured in the street in Yennora this morning is the victim of an assault.

Members of the public alerted emergency services when the 74-year-old man was found unconscious on Orchardleigh Street about 4.40am (Saturday 11 July 2026).

He was treated at the scene for head injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital. Police have been told he has now undergone surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene and have now conducted a canvass of the area. A number of items have been taken from the scene further examination.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the man was assaulted while on his regular morning walk; however, investigators have been unable to speak with the man.

He has been identified as a local resident, who is married with three children.

Police are appealing for anyone in the vicinity of Orchardleigh Street between 4am and 4.40am when the man was found, and who has relevant information and/or dashcam, to contact Fairfield Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
