You can have your say On Beach Access Improvements

Lifeguards and kids share a high five at the top of a beach access mat.

The City of Kingston is working to make it easier for everyone to enjoy our much-loved beaches and foreshore.

We are developing a new framework to guide future upgrades to beach access points along Kingston's 13 kilometres of Port Phillip Bay coastline and inviting the community to have their say.

The framework will build on recent audits, storm damage assessments and community feedback to prioritise improvements such as ramps, upgraded entry points and other accessible features.

Mayor Georgina Oxley said making the foreshore more inclusive is a key priority for Council.

"Our beaches and foreshore are at the heart of Kingston's identity – they're places where people come together to relax, connect and be active," Cr Oxley said.

"We want to make sure that everyone – regardless of age or ability – can experience the joy of a day at the beach. By investing in better access, we're not just improving infrastructure, we're opening up opportunities for all members of our community to share in this special part of Kingston."

The framework will align with Kingston's All Abilities Action Plan, which was co-designed with people with lived experience of disability and carers.

Cr Oxley said community voices will again be central to shaping the plan.

"This consultation is about listening and learning so that we can deliver upgrades in a fair, transparent and evidence-based way," she said.

"I encourage everyone to share their feedback and help us create a coastline that is welcoming and accessible for all."

Community members are invited to provide feedback on proposed priorities and share their experiences around foreshore access.
