You can have your say On Better Buses For Kingston

Kingston Council is calling on the community to help shape the future of local bus services through its Better Buses for Kingston campaign.

Mayor Georgina Oxley said better bus services are essential to connect people to jobs, education, and services – particularly in areas of Kingston not well served by trains.

"We know there are gaps in the bus network, services that don't run frequently enough, overcrowded routes, and a lack of connections to train stations and key destinations," Cr Oxley said.

"We're asking our community to share their ideas and show their support to help us push for real improvements to local bus services."

Council has identified several key priorities for improvement, including:

  • Route 828 Berwick to Hampton (via Southland, Cheltenham, DFO, Dingley Village): Seeking increased frequency to every 20 minutes on Saturdays and 30 minutes on Sundays.
  • Route 708 Carrum to Hampton (via Southland, Mentone, Mordialloc, Aspendale Gardens, Chelsea Heights, Carrum): Seeking increased frequency to every 20 minutes in peak periods and 30 minutes on weekends.
  • Route 903 Altona to Mordialloc (via Mordialloc, Mentone, Heatherton, Oakleigh South): Seeking increased frequency to every 10 minutes in peak periods and 15 minutes on weekends.
  • Additional advocacy for better services along Bay Road (Southland to Sandringham), the Nepean Highway corridor (Mentone to Elsternwick), and improved bus links to Monash University.

"This is your chance to tell us what's important to you and help strengthen our submission to the Victorian Government. Together, we can make a real case for Better Buses for Kingston," Cr Oxley said.
