The welcome flags at the Middleton & Lachlan Street roundabout in South Kempsey

The welcome flags on the Middleton and Lachlan Streets roundabout have been restored following damaged sustained by strong winds, which snapped a bracket off one of the flag poles.

The roundabout was constructed in 2018 as part of the Kempsey Corridor Masterplan.

The feature includes natural plantings and welcome flags designed by local Aboriginal artists Kyara Fernando and Stephen McLeod, drawing on symbols of their culture and the Macleay.

The flags feature the message 'Yawayi. Dhanang, marrungga barriya dhitiyndha' which means 'Hello. You all be well in this country' in Dhanggati.
