Gwydir Shire Council

Following the recent community consultation, which closed in November 2025, you told us that you would like to see more activities for young people in the Gwydir.

Over the past 12 months, Council has delivered a range of activities and events targeted at young people, including but not limited to:

  • Youth Exchange Program with Gwydir's Sister City, Willoughby City Council
  • Orange Festival
  • Youth Movie Night at the Roxy
  • Honey Festival
  • Christmas Carnivals
  • Educational Performances
  • Library programs in Bingara and Warialda
  • Hawaiian-themed Pool Party Movie Night (currently being advertised)

Keeping these activities in mind, we'd like your honest feedback:

  • What activities would genuinely get young people out of the house and involved — not just sound good on paper?
  • How do you envisage these activities being delivered (for example, timing, location, frequency, or format)?
  • Are there any barriers preventing young people from attending, such as cost, transport, timing, awareness, or lack of interest?
  • Would you be interested in volunteering your time or skills to support youth activities in the Gwydir?

This is your opportunity to have your say — and help shape what comes next.
