Council have opened expressions of interest for people aged 12 - 25 to join our brand new events initiative: the Youth Events, Activities and Happenings (YEAH) Crew.
YEAH Crew is an opportunity for young people who are passionate about career development, social networking, and further education to make an impact in their community by organising events that inspire, educate and empower young people while respecting and celebrating cultural diversity.
Crew members will have the opportunity to put their creative ideas into organising innovative activities for young people; collaborate with other young leaders to brainstorm, plan, and host exciting events that make a difference; and develop valuable skills in event planning, leadership, communication, and teamwork that will benefit their personal and professional growth.
YEAH Crew events will promote inclusivity, respect, and understanding of all cultural backgrounds, personal abilities and aspirations.
To submit your expression of interest, head to the dedicated Engage Ararat page. If you are 18 years or older, simply fill in the online form. If you are under 18 years of age, please download the form (available in Word and PDF formats), and have your parent or guardian follow the instructions and provide their signature before you fill out the remaining sections.
"When young people take the initiative to create exciting and empowering events for their peers, it injects such an authentic energy into the community," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong. "We can't wait to see the leadership, inclusivity and vision that the YEAH Crew are going to display over the course of their term."
YEAH Crew has been made possible by Council's successful Engage! 2025-27 grant. The Engage! 2025-27 grant is supported by the Victorian Government.
