Kiama Council

As we head into the festive season, Kiama Council reminds our residents and visitors to enjoy our summer safely and responsibly.
Beach & water safety
Our beautiful beaches will be busy, so please swim between the flags, listen to lifeguards, and only swim during patrol hours.
Parking & clearways
Our Parking Compliance Officers will be out this summer. Please observe times parking zones and keep clearways free to ensure smooth traffic flow for everyone.
Lithium battery safety
Many toys and gadgets include lithium batteries. Charge them safely, avoid overcharging, and dispose of old batteries correctly at designated collection points. Never throw them in household bins. Find a B-cycle drop off point at www.bcycle.com.au/drop-off.
Waste disposal
Christmas brings extra waste, so Kiama Council offers an extra bin pick up at Christmas. Please use the correct bins and report illegal dumping to help keep our community clean.
Holiday operating hours
Council offices, libraries and waste collection services will have adjusted hours over the holiday period.
Bike & e-bike safety
Bikes, including b-bikes, are a great way to get around, but safety comes first. Always wear a helmet, follow the road rules, and ride with care. For resources and guidelines visit www.transport.nsw.gov.au.
Bushfire & emergency preparedness
Unfortunately, summer also means bushfire risk. Review your emergency plan, clear your property of hazards, and stay alert to warning. Visit the NSW Rural Fire Service website for advice.
Let's make this festive season safe, sustainable, and enjoyable for all. Thank you for helping keep Kiama beautiful.
