Youth charged after robbery of 86-year-old woman in Narrabri

Detectives from Oxley Police District have charged a 17-year-old male following investigations into the robbery of an elderly woman in the state’s Western Region, NSW Police say.

About 8.40am on Saturday 10 March 2018, an 86-year-old woman was walking along Barwan Street, Narrabri, when she was allegedly assaulted and robbed of her handbag.

The woman suffered deep tissue injuries and was admitted to Narrabri Hospital for treatment.

The matter was reported to officers at Narrabri Police Station and an investigation was commenced.

The woman’s handbag was recovered the following day in Narrabri.

Following inquiries, a 17-year-old male was arrested at Armidale Police Station about 10.15am today (Thursday 22 March 2018) where he was charged with aggravated robbery.

He was refused bail and he will appear in a children’s court tomorrow (Friday 23 March 2018).
