Youths arrested over Emo Park assault, South Australia

Two youths have been arrested after an assault in the city last night and investigations are continuing to identify other youths involved.

About 6.45pm on Tuesday 10 March, a man was set upon by a group of youths in Emo Park, Hindmarsh Square. He was allegedly knocked to the ground and kicked to the head. The victim was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening head injuries.

Police searched the area for the youths, who had run off towards North Terrace.

A 14-year-old Stirling boy was located by a patrol on the corner of Kintore Avenue and arrested. He was charged with aggravated assault cause harm and possess a controlled drug.

A second suspect was spotted by Police Security Officers on CCTV near to where the assault occurred and arrested. The 14-year-old Marino boy was charged with aggravated assault cause harm.

They were both bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 24 April.

Investigations are continuing to identify up to four outstanding youths.
