The Minns Labor Government is investing $1.55 million into 12 community-led projects in the Monaro and Snowy region helping make towns more liveable, connected and vibrant places to live.
The grants are part of the Minns Government's $50 million Active Regional Communities Package, designed to support local and practical projects make towns more liveable, connected and attractive places to work and call home.
A connected community retains its workers and families, plus attracts essential workers such as teachers, police, nurses and vets that are critical to maintaining the vitality of regional towns.
The successful Monaro and Snowy Mountains projects include:
- $450,000 for Queanbeyan and District Basketball Association for the Queanbeyan Community Sports Stadium Upgrade
- $392,075 for Braidwood Show Society Incorporated for a major upgrade to Braidwood Showground's back paddock amenities, including a new accessible toilet block and resurfacing the campdraft arena
- $102,179 for Bungendore Preschool for its Early Years Outdoor Participation and Nature Play Project
- $82,500 for Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club for a new covered pergola and windbreak wall.
Projects are receiving funding for events, sporting and community infrastructure, local activities, cultural programs, youth and employment support, and neighbourhood initiatives.
The package is part of more than $223 million that has been invested by the Minns Government's Regional Development Trust Fund, into providing strategic and sustainable projects that grow regional and rural industries, businesses, communities and local facilities.
