$1.85M Boost to Bolster Swan Canning Biodiversity

  • Further $1.85 million available through Swan Canning Riverpark Urban Forest program
  • Grants available for projects that expand urban canopy and enhance biodiversity
  • Builds on Stage 1 of the program which has delivered 20 river revegetation projects
  • Cook Government committed to increasing urban tree canopy so future generations can enjoy the natural environment

A further $1.85 million in State Government funding is now available to public land managers over the next two years as part of the Swan Canning Riverpark Urban Forest program.

Grants are available for projects up to three years that aim to expand urban canopy and enhance biodiversity, with the program contributing up to two-thirds of total project costs.

To date, the program has funded 20 projects, delivering 41 hectares of weed control, 27 hectares of revegetation and the planting of more than 500,000 native plants.

Applications close 4pm on Friday, 28 November 2025 with further opportunities opening in 2026.

As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"The Cook Government is proud to continue backing this program which delivers riverside restoration projects that benefit both the environment and the community.

"Extending this program for another two years reinforces our commitment to improving the ecosystem health, amenity and connected landscapes of our much-loved Riverpark.

"Through targeted revegetation and improved management, we can better support native fauna and improve water quality entering the river."
