Recognising the widespread impacts of the flooding and the need to build back better, the $100 million investment will focus on rebuilding critical infrastructure including roads, bridges and flood mitigation works.
As Katherine, Jilkminggan and Beswick begins its recovery, other parts of the Territory remain in the response phase. The Finocchiaro CLP Government has acted quickly to allocate funding specifically for critical infrastructure and roads.
Mr Davies will report to Minister Jo Hersey, the Member for Katherine, who will be the Minister responsible for the Flood Recovery Fund.
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the investment would help restore essential infrastructure and strengthen communities against future flooding.
"Territorians can be assured we are investing in rebuilding broken infrastructure, repairing washed-out roads and bridges, and delivering long-term flood mitigation," Mrs Finocchiaro said.
"This $100 million commitment provides certainty for communities at a time when they need it most.
"This is not just about immediate recovery; this is about the future and flood mitigation."
Minister Hersey said the recovery effort was deeply personal.
"As someone who lost everything in the 1998 flood and stood with the community again during the 2006 and now 2026 floods, I understand first-hand the devastation these events cause," she said.
"I look forward to bringing that experience to the rebuild and working closely with communities to ensure we recover stronger."
