$100M Easter School Maintenance Blitz Launched

NSW Gov

The Minns Labor Government is delivering more than $103 million in school upgrades and maintenance works over the Easter holidays, with around 900 projects taking place at hundreds of schools across NSW.

While students are away over the Easter break, tradies are hard at work to ensure they return to improved classrooms and facilities for the start of Term 2, 2026.

Hundreds of public schools are receiving a fresh coat of paint, new roofs, repaired playground paths, new carpet and other essential works to ensure clean, safe and welcoming environments for staff and students.

Across NSW, the Easter school maintenance program includes:

  • $14 million for painting works
  • $17 million for flooring projects
  • $23 million for accessibility improvements
  • $5 million for roof repairs and replacements

Projects underway include:

  • Greenway Park Public School - external painting works - $56,000

  • Grenfell Public School
  • Taree West Public School
  • Lewisham Public School

The Easter holiday works bring the total number of bathroom upgrades delivered since the Minns Labor Government came to office to 612 projects across 484 schools, from inner Sydney to some of NSW's most remote communities.

Works include full toilet block refurbishments, replacement of fixtures and fittings, new tiling and flooring, and improved ventilation and lighting.

New and upgraded facilities are an important part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education. The NSW Budget includes a record $9 billion investment in new and upgraded schools.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said:

"While students are enjoying their Easter holidays, our government is getting on with the job of essential maintenance, so they return to facilities that are modern, clean and fit for purpose.

"We are rebuilding public education by investing record amounts in new and upgraded schools, while also getting the basics right through bathroom upgrades, roof repairs, new carpet and freshly painted classrooms.

"These investments make a real difference for students and teachers.

"Modernising bathrooms may be one of the least glamorous parts of the Minns Labor Government's record $9 billion investment in school infrastructure, but it is no less important."

Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said:

"We are delivering on our promise to rebuild the NSW public education system.

"It's not always flashy and it's not always headline grabbing, but these are investments and improvements that matter to students, parents and teachers.

"We need to get the basics right, so every public school student can reach their full potential."
