Regional Australians will enjoy greater access to exhibitions and experiences such as dance, drama and First Nations art, thanks to $1.1 million delivered through the Australian Government 's Regional Arts Fund.
The latest funding round will support 71 projects which range from traditional art forms such as weaving and fine arts, through to dance, literature, film and digital media.
Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher, said the Government is committed to helping artists promote uniquely Australian stories to audiences in regional and rural areas.
"This latest round of funding which will support a variety of high quality projects including a First Nations art exhibition at the Cooroy Butter Factory in Queensland, a dance education program for schools in Glenorchy in Tasmania and an Anzac memorial project in Castlemaine in Victoria," said Minister Fletcher.
"Not only does this Government support give a cultural boost to our regional communities so they remain vibrant cultural hubs, the funding also increases employment and professional development opportunities for our world-class artists and performers."
Each year the Government provides around $3.5 million through the Regional Arts Fund, which is delivered by Regional Arts Australia through organisations in each state and territory.
This funding is available through a mix of quick response and community grants for arts projects, professional development for artists and arts workers, community capacity building and national strategic projects.
