Hawkesbury City Council will provide financial assistance to 15 local individuals and groups under the first round of its 2025/2026 Community Sponsorship Program, sharing in just over $11,000 in financial support.
The program seeks to assist local residents who have been selected to represent their community in regional, national or international sporting or cultural events; subsidise half the cost of hiring a Council or community facility; and provide support for local activities that support a connected, healthy and resilient Hawkesbury.
Nine local sportspeople received $150 in funding. Three will represent their country in theatre, rugby and dance. Six will compete in equestrian, rugby, softball and supercross on the national stage.
The Women's Cottage received support for Reclaim the Night ($3000), Country Women's Association Kurrajong for improving digital connectivity at their hall ($2000), RuffTRACK for its Hope on the Farm open day ($2000), North Richmond Community Centre for its Halloween disco ($1500) and Glossodia Community Centre for its Christmas Gathering Event ($2000).
Colo Heights Progress Association will receive 50% subsidised use of the Horrie Ely Memorial Hall to the value of $216.
