The State Government has announced more than $1.6 million in funding for projects that help manage Western Australia's world-renowned coastline.
Coastal Adaptation and Protection (CAP) grants fund projects that identify and adapt to coastal hazards; the Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program (CMPAP) supports sustainable use of coastal areas through strategic planning; and Coastwest funds projects that enhance coastal conditions and amenity.
Individual grants of up to $300,000 are available under the CAP program, $75,000 under CMPAP and $50,000 under Coastwest.
Suitable projects could include developing coastal hazard risk management and adaptation plans, monitoring, asset management, and on-ground activities.
Local coastal managers, community groups, schools, and other groups working to address regionally specific coastal issues are encouraged to apply.
The Department of Transport administers CAP grants while CMPAP and Coastwest grants are administered by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.
Applications close on April 1, 2019 for CAP grants and on April 15, 2019 for CMPAP and Coastwest.

"With the State Government's support, local governments and coastal groups are able to manage regionally specific issues and make informed decisions towards sustainable development, tourism and recreation.
"More than $16 million in State funding has been invested through these coastal grant programs since their inception."
