17 kilograms of cannabis found in car, NSW

A man has been charged after police allegedly located over 17kg of cannabis in his car at Bass Hill yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 6.30pm today, officers from Bankstown Local Area Command stopped a rental car on the Hume Highway.

Following investigations, officers searched the car and allegedly located more than 17 kilograms of cannabis in vacuum sealed bags in the boot. The drugs were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with supply indictable quantity of cannabis.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court tomorrow.
