  • Applications for 2026-27 Regional Events Scheme now open
  • Total funding pool of up to $1 million to support regional events and attract new visitors to the regions
  • Part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to generate valuable tourism dollars for local business

A total funding pool of up to $1 million to support events across the State is now available with applications open for the Cook Government's 2026-27 Regional Events Scheme.

The annual State Government funding program supports smaller and developing regional events to help attract new visitors, encourage regional dispersal, and stimulate local economies.

Event holders have until 19 September 2025 to apply for funding of between $5,000 and $40,000 for events held in regional WA between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027.

This funding includes $150,000 dedicated to the Regional Aboriginal Events Scheme (RAES) to support events that showcase and celebrate Aboriginal activities and experiences.

The 2025-26 funding round saw $1 million committed across 63 regional events such as:

  • Gascoyne Food Festival;
  • Leonora Golden Gift;
  • Mowanjum Festival;
  • WA Pro Surf Series; and
  • York Festival, and more.

The funding round also supported six events through RAES funding, such as the Bunuru Festival and the Karijini Experience.

The Regional Events Scheme is an example of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to increase tourism across Western Australia, to provide a boost to business and industry, and to support local jobs.
