This year, we're proud to announce a $300,000 donation from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
The donation supports the Foundation's ongoing work and coincides with the 21st annual Walk and Day for Daniel, Australia's largest child safety education and awareness event. Now in our seventh year of supporting the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, our total contributions have reached more than $2.2 million, helping the Foundation continue its mission to keep kids safe.
Through the Foundation's tireless efforts, child safety education programmes are expanding across the country. These programs empower children, parents, caregivers and communities to recognise and respond to potential dangers. The Foundation also provides support to victims of crime and families of missing persons, offering critical assistance when it's needed most.
Every child deserve to grow up in a safe environment that's free from harm and abuse. The Foundation is leading the way in building a safer future for all children. Thanks to generous donations and ongoing support, the Foundation continues to expand its free resource library, school programs and the Day for Daniel, ensuring it remains a vital part of child safety education for years to come.
Bruce and Denise Morcombe expressed their gratitude for The Lott's unwavering support over the past seven years.
"The Lott's incredible generosity has helped us continue to create free educational resources so we can keep our young people safe," Bruce and Denise said.
"For 21 years the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has cut through the barriers and done what others thought complicated and difficult. Here's to another 21 years of unwavering dedication and advocating for children."
The Lott's Partnerships Manager, Liz McPherson, expressed hope that this contribution will help the Foundation reach even more milestones in the years ahead.
"The incredible reach and impact of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation is growing nationwide and we're proud to be part of that journey," she said.
"Today, walking alongside thousands of children, parents, caregivers and teachers is a powerful reminder of Bruce and Denise's mission. Every year, more people join the movement and together we're helping to keep Aussie kids safe."
During the week of Day for Daniel, our retailers are getting right behind the cause through fundraising. Staff will dress and decorate their stores in red and use official Day for Daniel merchandise to help raise awareness. Many will go the extra mile with creative displays and baked goods, showing their support for child safety and engaging their local communities.
To further support the Foundation's purpose, we've also backed the Amber Alert system for over a decade. This initiative helps spread urgent messages about abducted or high-risk missing children via lottery terminals in our outlets. We're currently working to expand to more jurisdictions, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to child safety.
You can also help raise funds for child safety. Purchase a Play For Purpose ticket in support of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Not only will at least 50% of your ticket go directly to the charity, but you'll also be in with a chance to win a First Prize Pack, plus hundreds of other great prizes.
