20% Off Rego And Half Price PT Starts Tomorrow

VIC Premier

Donald Trump's War in the Middle East continues to push up prices at the pump and put families under pressure.

That's why Labor is cutting the cost of commuting and driving.

20 per cent off regos start tomorrow.

Currently, light vehicle registration can cost up to $930.70 every year, for every car. With 20 per cent off rego:

  • a driver with one car will receive up to $186 back
  • a family with two cars will receive up to $372 back

Half-price fares also kick in tomorrow until the end of the year. Under half-price fares:

  • a full daily fare will cost $5.70 to travel anywhere across the state, not $11.40
  • that saves a regular commuter more than $850 between tomorrow and 1 January next year

It's all about putting money back in the pockets of Victorians while fuel prices remain high.

Labor is delivering real cost of living help to families that need it - and Liberals oppose it.

About 20% off rego

You'll get 20% back off your rego via a rebate on the Service Victoria app or website.

To be eligible for the rebate, Victorians need to have paid their registration between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026 for a light vehicle for personal use. This includes cars, utes, motorbikes and any vehicle under 4.5 tonnes.

You'll get the full rebate regardless of whether you pay your yearly rego in full or in installments.

You can claim for up to two vehicles in your name.

To apply, you need to log into your Service Victoria account or create a Service Victoria account.

Payments will be made by direct bank transfer - most within 30 days.

When applying, you need to enter your:

  • Registration number
  • Full name
  • Victorian driver licence number or VicRoads customer number
  • Bank details, so you can receive the rebate

You have two months to apply. Applications open at 9:00am June 1 and are open until 31 July 2026.

For more information and to apply, download the Service Victoria app or visit https://www.service.vic.gov.au/rego-rebate
