Police have charged a 20 year old North-West man with 3 counts of Indecent Assault, after he allegedly approached children at a North-West child care centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Police allege the man did not enter the yard of the centre, but made contact with them through a fence.
Staff of the centre took immediate action to ensure the safety of all the children in the centre, and the man was removed from the area. All children and families involved have been provided with appropriate counselling and support.
Investigations are continuing and the child care centre is continuing to assist police with their enquiries.
Police wish to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and necessary actions are occurring to ensure ongoing safety of children in the community.
The man was charged, bailed with conditions and will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on 16 May at 9.30am.
