The 2019-20 Cricket Victoria Pathway program is about to commence for the season with various squads being announced over the coming days.

Prior to these announcements, we wanted to remind you about key program details as well as give you an update about some changes made.

Academy Youth Program (Pathway)

• The pathway itself: Victorian Youth Premier League (YPL) state-wide competition feeds players into State Youth Programs and Victorian Premier Cricket, complimenting community club and school cricket competitions
• Cricket Victoria Academy Program includes the following divisions:
  • Female program - Victorian Under-15 and Under-18
  • Male program – Victorian Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19
• ALL age groups above will be represented by a Vic Country and Vic Metro squad that will participate at the National Championships - Ten State Youth teams in total
• Academy Youth Programs include: skills training, performance management, trials, matches, national championship experience and in-season development opportunities
• Players selected in squads at the National Championships are presented with the opportunity to progress into Cricket Australia age-group national programs and in the future, rookie positions on the Victorian contract list

Male Academy Under-15 Squad

This squad is now fully coordinated by Cricket Victoria, having previously been linked to School Sport Victoria (SSV).

The benefits of this include:

• The squad aligns nationally with all States & Territories;
• Creates an in-depth program for talented Under-15 players;

• Offers more opportunities for talented Under-15 players;
• Focuses on developing a holistic young person & cricketer; and
• Sets the foundations to become the best player possible

At Cricket Victoria, we wanted to remind you about our Coaching and Talent Specialists who are the key contacts in your area for the Pathway Program.

They are responsible for:

• Being the head coach of their area
• Building positive relationships with players and families
• Being the contact for the player over their cricketing journey
• Promoting and celebrating each area
