The blast of motorcycle engines and a sea of colour and chrome will engulf High Street in Cranbourne later this month when the Cranbourne GP Run returns to our streets!
Join in this huge street party when thousands of motorcyclists descend on High Street to depart en-mass for the Phillip Island Grand Prix on Saturday 26 October.
Any rider can take part, no registration is required. Motorcycles can start lining up on High Street from 7.30 am.
For the first time this year, one lucky person will have the chance to go up in the cherry picker with the City of Casey Mayor and help wave off the riders. Entertainment will kick off from 8.15 am prior to an almighty wave off at 10.00 am, so head down early to get involved in the activities, grab a bite to eat and secure yourself a good spot behind the fence.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon said this is one of Council's largest events and encouraged people to head along and witness the spectacular sight of the motorcycles gathering.
"The scene of all the motorcyclists gathering prior to roaring down High Street, headed for Phillip Island is truly a sight to behold, and I encourage anyone who hasn't attended this event before to come along," Cr Stapledon said.
"It's a fantastic day out with the family, perfect for all ages and there's plenty happening in the area prior to the wave-off to keep the kids busy."
This year, the Casey Cardinia Foundation will be the major charity partner for the event and will raise funds for local community groups to support the social, community and physical development of the local community.
Cr Stapledon urged anyone who isn't afraid of heights and is physically fit to enter the competition to go up in the cherry picker, following in the footsteps of legends before them, including Cathy Freeman, Arj Barker, Leisel Jones and Shane Jacobson.
"This truly is a unique once in a lifetime experience and gives you a fantastic viewing spot of the riders as they set off for the GP," she said.
She also urged local businesses to make the most of the massive crowds!
"I encourage all Cranbourne businesses to get creative and get involved to make the most of this phenomenal tourism event that occurs each year."
