In a challenging year, the University of Newcastle has maintained its position among the world's Top 200 universities in the prestigious 2022 QS World University Rankings, released today.

The University of Newcastle rank of 197 is unchanged from last year, demonstrating impressive stability in a volatile year. The QS World University Ranking follows recent success in the THE Impact Rankings, which saw the University of Newcastle ranked number one in the world for partnering for a more sustainable future.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Alex Zelinsky AO said that maintaining a top 200 ranking reflected the University's unwavering focus on delivering excellence in teaching, learning and research in difficult circumstances.

"Our sector has faced a second year of immense external challenges, so this outstanding result is testament to the resilience of our staff, students and partners," Professor Zelinsky said.

"I am grateful to our impressive alumni network for supporting our students across the globe during the pandemic and continuing to act as incredible ambassadors for the University."
