2023 Community Citizen of Year Awards nominations open

It is time to shine a light on local champions of all ages and backgrounds who have made a positive impact in the City of Swan community.

Nominations are now open for individuals or community groups that have made a difference in education, health, business, sports, arts, the environment, or other areas that enhance community wellbeing, in the 2023 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said this was an opportunity to recognise unsung heroes in the community.

"There are many people and community groups who give their time to others and create positive change that benefit us all," he said.

"These are selfless people who encourage our youth, care for our environment or help create an inclusive community.

"They do not do it for the accolades, but this is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank them."

The City of Swan encourages residents, community members and business owners to nominate someone they know worthy of recognition in the following award categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Community Citizen of the Year (Youth)
  • Community Citizen of the Year (Senior)
  • Active Citizenship (Group or Event)

Nominations should be based on an individual or who group who has:

  • made a significant contribution over and above what is normally expected from their paid employment/business.
  • demonstrated leadership resulting in the enhancement of community life.
  • implemented a significant initiative which has brought about positive change and added value to community life.
  • inspired the community as a role model.

Nominations close Monday, October 31, 2022.

Winners will be announced as part of the City's Australia Day celebrations on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
