2024 Geelong Calendar photography competition opens

The City of Greater Geelong is calling for amateur and professional photographers to help showcase our beautiful region for the 2024 Geelong Calendar. All ages are encouraged to get creative and submit an entry.

We want to see Greater Geelong through your lens, seeking images that represent what makes our region unique and diverse.

There are so many breathtaking places to capture, from iconic scenic views, stunning seascapes, wildlife sanctuaries, historic sites and heritage buildings, to inner-city streets and bustling laneways.

With some of the most picturesque landscapes in Australia, there are limitless ways to celebrate and showcase the region.

A public vote will be held to determine the final 13 photographs for the calendar, including the calendar cover photo. Last year over 5,400 voters cast their votes.

After the final 13 photographs are selected in September, more than 135,000 calendars will be printed and then posted to households in November.

Locations like aged care facilities, the Anakie General Store and the Indented Head Post Office will also receive copies of the 2024 calendar.

Additional copies of the calendar will be available to pick up at the City's customer service centres and local libraries from November.

The competition opens on Wednesday 31 May 2023 and closes at 5:00pm on Friday 11 August 2023.

Mayor Trent Sullivan

The popular photography competition is all about celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of our region.

Last year our competition attracted over 1,000 entries with the winning photo a stunning aerial photograph of Corio Bay by Highton resident Lasith Merinpanayagam.

Councillor Melissa Cadwell - Chair of the Creativity and Culture portfolio

Our annual calendar photography competition provides residents with an opportunity to celebrate and share our local landscapes, seascapes and urban places in a way that can only be truly appreciated visually.

People love the calendar. It's really very popular.

Every year I'm amazed by the quality of the photography. We live in such a beautiful part of the world and our annual calendar photography competition is for residents with a passion for photography, to get out and about.

There's so many good submissions, it's hard selecting the final 13, but thankfully the community helps us by voting for the best ones.
