2025 Corangamite Business Awards: Winners Revealed

Local businesses were honoured at the 2025 Corangamite Business Awards Night on Wednesday 18 June, celebrating innovation, dedication, and excellence across a wide range of industries.

The event brought together people from across the Shire to connect, network, and celebrate local success stories. Fifteen outstanding finalists were recognised for their achievements and contributions to the local economy, with five category winners announced on the night.

This year's winners are:

  • Growers and Producers Award: Apostle Whey Cheese

    A family-owned dairy farm and artisan cheese producer in Cooriemungle, Apostle Whey Cheese has grown since 2005 into a thriving agritourism destination. Julian and Dianne Benson offer award-winning cheese, milk, gelato, and a unique whey-based gin. With a strong focus on sustainability, education, and innovation, the business continues to expand while staying true to its community and environmental values.

  • Outstanding Customer Service Award: Hampden Veterinary Clinic

    Serving the region for over 16 years, Hampden Veterinary Clinic is led by local vets Drs. David Buckle, Simon Dean, Xavier McKinnon, and Anthony Down. With a new state-of-the-art facility in Cobden, the clinic supports both pets and livestock, particularly the dairy sector. Their commitment to animal welfare, education, and exceptional service has made them a trusted name in the community.

  • Circular Solutions Award: REAL Pizza Pasta Salads

    Based in Port Campbell, REAL is a sustainability-driven eatery known for its "create your own" meals and circular economy initiatives. Since 2020, the business has implemented solar power, reusable packaging, a Borrow Bureau, and a "Pay it Forward" scheme. With a strong focus on community, local sourcing, and environmental education, REAL is redefining what it means to be a responsible and creative food business.

  • Future Shapers Award: Effluent Solutions Australia (Engineer It)

    Specialising in full-service dairy effluent systems, Effluent Solutions Australia provides custom-designed, Australian-made solutions for farms across Victoria and beyond. Their end-to-end service model, investment in staff training, and plans to expand into biogas and international markets position them as leaders in sustainable agricultural engineering.

  • Tourism Excellence Award: Keayang Maar Vineyard

    Located in Dixie on the edge of the Keayang Maar volcanic crater, this family-run vineyard has quickly become a standout destination since its founding in 2020. Managed by the Wurlod family, Keayang Maar offers wine, events, and a strong connection to local culture and Indigenous heritage. With plans for expanded production and luxury accommodation, the vineyard is helping to elevate the region's tourism profile.

Each finalist received a professional photography and promotion package, and the five category winners were also awarded a $2,000 radio advertising package, proudly sponsored by Ace Radio.

Corangamite Shire Mayor Kate Makin congratulated all finalists and winners.

"These awards are not just about success, they're about the people and enterprises that help our region grow and prosper," Cr Kate Makin said.

"What an incredible showcase of talent, innovation, and community spirit."
