2025 WA Seniors Awards Winners Celebrated

  • WA Seniors Awards celebrates contributions of seniors, businesses, and local governments
  • Anne Moore, Elizabeth Smith, and Christine Young recognised for long-time advocacy work, and Val and Kathy's Crafty Kitchen and City of Vincent also acknowledged
  • Cook Government recognises the leadership and advocacy of all the WA winners

A trailblazing leader for women's safety, a visionary advocate of age-friendly practices, and a Pilbara-based business that steps up in times of crisis are among the winners of the 2025 Western Australian Seniors Awards.

The WA Senior of the Year - Metropolitan Award goes to Anne Moore, who was recognised for her leadership and commitment to the Lucy Saw Centre Association, working for more than 30 years to transform the association from a small local refuge into a multi-site service supporting thousands of women and children escaping family violence.

Elizabeth Smith is the recipient of the WA Senior of the Year - Regional Award. A much-loved Pilbara identity, Elizabeth has dedicated more than 30 years to strengthening the local community to support Elders, families, and cultural traditions, including the annual Elders' birthday celebration in Roebourne.

The WA Seniors Advocate of the Year is Christine Young, lauded as a visionary advocate whose leadership has advanced age-friendly practices across WA. Christine pioneered the Age-Friendly Communities framework at the City of Melville and has been instrumental in delivering initiatives that improve inclusion and services for older Western Australians.

The WA Age-Friendly Business Award goes to Val and Kathy's Crafty Kitchen. Founded at the request of Ngarluma Elders eight years ago, the Pilbara-based business has grown into a vibrant program bringing together up to 40 community members for cultural, creative, and on-Country activities.

The City of Vincent is the recipient of the WA Age-Friendly Local Government Award, recognised for its diverse range of activities and workshops designed to support healthy, connected, and fulfilling lives for older residents, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal, disability, and LGBTIQA+ communities.

The 2025 WA Seniors Awards were presented by Advocare in partnership with the Department of Communities and Lotterywest.
