Council is inviting nominations for the 2026 Macedon Ranges Community Awards, celebrating inspiring individuals, groups, and initiatives that make an outstanding contribution to community life across the shire.
Following a successful 2025 awards program, the Community Awards return in 2026 to celebrate local people whose passion, dedication and service help strengthen, connect, and inspire.
Mayor Kate Kendall said the awards provide an amazing opportunity to acknowledge the often unseen efforts of community members.
"Across the Macedon Ranges, there are so many people who quietly and consistently give their time, energy and knowledge to support others," she said.
"These awards are a chance to recognise the efforts of our local everyday heroes, and give them the recognition they deserve, as they make our community the wonderful place to live that it is."
Council encourages residents to take a moment to nominate anyone they think has made a positive impact - whether through volunteering, leadership, creative or sporting achievements, environmental accomplishments, youth leadership, or the delivery of outstanding community events.
There are 8 award categories open for nominations:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Inclusive Communities
- Contribution to the Environment
- Contribution to Community Arts
- Contribution to Sports and Wellbeing
- Youth Leadership
- Community Event of the Year
Nominations are open from today (Friday 23 January), and close on Sunday 22 February. Award recipients will be announced during National Volunteer Week in May.
