233 saltwater crocodiles removed from NT waterways last year

The Parks and Wildlife Crocodile Management Unit removed 233 saltwater crocodiles from Territory waterways during 2019.

The figure is a decrease on the number of crocodiles removed during 2018, which was 360, and 2017, which was 371.

The largest crocodile captured in 2019 measured 4.3 metres. It was removed from a billabong within the Darwin Crocodile Management Zone.

The Crocodile Management Unit places over 50 traps in strategic spots throughout Territory waterways to catch crocodiles.
