25 Individuals, Groups Awarded Community Sponsorship

Hawkesbury City Council will provide financial assistance to 25 local individuals and groups under the second round of its 2024/2025 Community Sponsorship Program.

The program seeks to assist local residents who have been selected to represent their community in regional, national or international sporting or cultural events; subsidise half the cost of hiring a Council or community facility; and provide support for local activities that support a connected, healthy and resilient Hawkesbury.

Twenty-two local sportspeople received $150 in funding. Four will represent Australia in martial arts and one each in dragon boating and motorcycling. Seven will represent their state in netball, two in track and field and one each in gymnastics and baseball. The rest will represent their region in Oztag, cricket and dance.

Bligh Park Community Services Inc. will hold a Halloween event ($3,000), St Albans School of Arts will deliver weekly exercise classes ($3,000) and Mad Mob Aboriginal Corporation will hold a Community National Day of Healing Ceremony ($800).

A total of $10,100 was provided in this round of funding. Round one of the program saw $16,241 provided to successful applicants.
