Parramatta is set to become an even better place to live, work and play, after City of Parramatta endorsed its Community Strategic Plan 2025-2050 last night.
The Community Strategic Plan captures the community's vision for the City, setting key objectives, strategic actions and targets for the next 25 years. Council will work collaboratively to help bring this vision to life through its Delivery Program and Operational Plan (DPOP).
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the plan reflects the voices of the community and sets a bold direction for the future.
"Council's refreshed 25-year Community Strategic Plan is one of our boldest and most exciting to date, created by the community, for the community," Cr Zaiter said.
"If you compare Parramatta today to what it was like in the year 2000, it's exciting to think about how our City will change in the next 25 years' time."
The Plan is underpinned by an extensive community consultation process, held throughout 2023 and 2024, which attracted more than 4000 views of the draft document.
Traffic and transport planning, cost of living, housing costs and access to culture and events were common priorities nominated by the local community.
"Whether it's Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2, a metro connection from Westmead to Western Sydney airport or Civic Link, this document allows Council to make sure the community's expectations on the delivery of future infrastructure are met," Cr Zaiter said.
A comprehensive report on the implementation of the Community Strategic Plan is published in a 'State of our City' report every four years, with the next one due in 2028.
