For many borrowers, the service fills a gap that's hard to describe until you feel it yourself. When getting out becomes difficult, the simple joy of browsing shelves, chatting over a shared story, or even just seeing a friendly face can slip away. That's where our volunteers step in - not just as delivery drivers, but as listeners, companions and often friends.
Today, our Home Library Service continues to provide free monthly deliveries to eligible residents across the Peninsula, carefully matched with volunteers who share similar interests. With training and support provided, volunteers become part of something genuinely special - helping to reduce social isolation while creating connections that matter.
Sometimes, the most powerful stories aren't the ones on the page. They're the ones we create together.
Watch the video below to hear firsthand from a volunteer and borrower about the connection, friendship and joy this service brings.
