250 cannabis plants seized from Glen Iris

Prahran Divisional Response Unit (DRU) detectives seized approximately 250 cannabis plants from two crop houses in Glen Iris last Tuesday.

DRU members executed search warrants at addresses on Malvern Road as part of a drug investigation on 13 July about 8.30am.

Sophisticated hydroponic cannabis crop houses were located in the homes and the plants were seized along with equipment.

Police also identified the electricity to the property had been by-passed.

No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations remain ongoing.

Anyone who has information about cannabis cultivation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Quotes from Prahran Divisional Response Unit Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Moreland

"This was a well-structured and organised cannabis crop house operation. We will continue to pursue any opportunity to disrupt criminal enterprises such as this and hold those responsible to account. It's important we support the broader community in dismantling these networks.

"We seek the public's continued assistance by contacting police if they observe or hear any suspicious behaviour such as the covering or blacking out of windows, strong plant smells and unusual vehicle or pedestrian movement".

"Premises such as this one can often have overloaded electrical systems therefore exposing not only any occupants but others to inherent risks."
