A Darwin woman in her 20s has turned a spur-of-the-moment Friday decision into a life-changing $1 million Weekday Windfall win after buying a ticket on a whim in a game she rarely even plays.
The Northern Territorian held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4721 on Friday 26 June 2026.
When speaking to us, the ecstatic winner revealed she almost didn't grab the ticket that would make her a millionaire.
"I hadn't played Weekday Windfall for a while and randomly decided to play and get a QuickPick," she laughed.
"I'm more of a Set for Life girl and normally pick my own numbers, usually birthdays. These weren't numbers I'd normally choose. But I guess that's the funny thing… this time it worked!
"It was a bit of a Friday afternoon decision and then it happened.
"You see it happen to other people, but you never think it will happen to you.
"I checked the ticket just after the draw on Friday night and I didn't sleep much after that because of all the excitement and everything.
"There were all kinds of emotions all through the night.
"I can hardly think. I'm very excited. It's real, but it almost doesn't feel real."
With the reality of the win still settling in, the young woman said the prize would provide a strong financial foundation for her future.
"It's everything. It's a really cool head start," she said.
"Obviously, I'll make some plans and make some decisions, but it just gives me so many options."
The woman's 15-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
