Communities across Murrumbidgee Local Health District are set to benefit from upgraded health facilities, following nearly $3.4 million funding boost from the Minns Labor Government to deliver minor capital works projects.
This funding is part of the Minns Labor Government's $12 million Regional Health Minor Works Program.
Delivered over two years, the program will support essential infrastructure upgrades and enhance health facilities across regional, rural and remote NSW, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of local communities and deliver high-quality care.
This investment will support the delivery of a range of projects including:
- upgrades to the Corowa Health Service Emergency Department, including enhancing medical imaging services and establishing flexible clinical rooms for paediatric patients and other vulnerable cohorts.
- enhancement of medical imaging at Leeton Health Service. Imaging will be transitioned from an analogue to a fully digital system. The project will improve diagnostic capacity, reducing the need for patients to travel to access care.
- establishment of a renal dialysis Satellite Unit at Leeton Health Service. This will improve access to renal dialysis closer to home for Leeton and Narrandera communities, reducing the need to travel.
- expansion of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital Emergency Department waiting area, which will help enhance patient experiences.
- upgrades to Young Health Service Emergency Department facilities, including a dedicated patient bathroom and enhanced pathways between the ED and medical imaging.
This funding builds on the Minns Labor Government's $11.9 billion investment to deliver 32 new or upgraded hospitals as part of the 2026-27 Budget. This includes nearly $3 billion over four years for hospitals across regional NSW.
