3 Arrested in St Heliers Burglary Probe

Operation Rhino investigators continue to make arrests over commercial burglaries in Auckland City District.

Today, three people have been put before the Youth Court in relation to a ram raid style burglary at a dairy in St Heliers on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Long Drive at around 5am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber says investigators began making enquiries including reviewing CCTV footage.

"Yesterday a search warrant was conducted at a Beach Haven address, and a 15-year-old male at the address was arrested."

Three further arrests were made early this morning after a stolen vehicle failed to stop for Police near Ōrākei.

"The vehicle eventually came to a stop after spikes were successfully deployed, with all the occupants being taken into custody at the scene," Detective Senior Sergeant Baber says.

All three arrested are aged between 14 to 17, with all three due to appear in the Auckland Youth Court today facing a range of burglary and other dishonesty offence charges.

Detective Senior Sergeant Baber says Operation Rhino staff are continuing to make enquiries and cannot rule out further charges being laid.
