$320,000 worth of prohibited drugs seized; man charged at Griffith

A man has been charged over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state's south.

Last month, officers from Murrumbidgee Police District's Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs, namely methylamphetamine, throughout the region.

Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Heath Crescent, Griffith, bout 9.15am yesterday (Thursday 4 November 2021).

During a search of the property, police seized 382g of methylamphetamine (ice), various other prohibited drugs, $25,500 in cash, and ammunition.

The estimated potential street value of the drugs is $320,000.

Police also seized motorbikes, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), power tools, bicycles and other items, all of which are believed to have been stolen.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with;

  • supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity – serious indictable offence,
  • knowingly deal with proceeds of crime – serious indictable offence,
  • possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and,
  • goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle).

The Griffith man appeared in Griffith Local Court today (Friday 5 November 2021), where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Wednesday 15 December 2021.
